[Qgis-user] problem upgrading to v 1.0.0 from Preview 2 - Ubuntu 7.10

On Ubuntu 7.10

 

I've done apt-get remove qgis and apt-get purge qgis as well as updated
my apt-get sources and done apt-get update. 

 

 

The new QGIS 1.0.0 splash screen comes up, QGIS opens, but the top bar
and 'about' still say Preview II and 'test qgis version' doesn't work. 

 

I click on 'Manage plugins' and get this:

I click OK and QGIS crashes out.

 

and in the bash terminal:

 

qgis: symbol lookup error: qgis: undefined symbol:
_ZN19QgsDetailedItemData10setEnabledEb

 

any tips?

Subsequently I apt-get purged python-qgis as well , then reinstalled and
now I get this error:

 

Couldn't load PyQGIS.

Python support will be disabled.
