[Qgis-user] Multiple ring buffering in QGIS?

Hi everyone. Hope all is well.
Im doing a project in QGIS and was wondering if there is a function that is
equivalent to ArcGIS 'multiple ring buffer'. I want to create a multiple
ring buffer consisting of 10 intervals. Also when I got to the buffer tool
in QGIS 'segments to approximate' is set to a minimum default value of 5.
What is 'segements to approximate'? and why is it set to 5.
