Hi , 
I have no problem under windows XP. Deleting .qgis folder allows an instant
startup. I took care of having really few plugins installed afterwards, and
most core plugin are deactivated, but this "first startup behaviour"
remains. Does Qgis recompile python scripts at each startup? could it be
parsed by antivirus once at start? 

Still searching.
