I agree!
If Tufte were dead, he could roll in his grave. Instead, I guess he
just keeps making incredible amounts of money from his seminars and
books...
What I think is so obnoxious about the flex viewer is that whenever it
does something, it is like it is screaming, 'hey, did you notice that I
am using Flash!!?'. 'No, really, what if I spin three times, do
backflips and emit a puff of smoke? Now do you see the Flash?!' 'Who
cares that you have data or not?, I am using Flash, man...'

The flex interface made me think of the article in the Fall 2009 issue

ArcUser "Four lessons on usability and the GeoWeb". (Link:
