(les-ejk is reading)
I started to package GRASS (and related soft) because of I did it for
myself and to publish it was only another step. I never used
launchpad&co. because of I never found any simple and fast how-to, how
to publish packages there (I was not searching too deep, any link, please?)
the packages of mine do work for myself. some other people seems to be
using them as well. I'm building on top of svn.debian.org - there are
only little ubuntu modifications (sometimes, non-systemathic).
I do build only for currently used architecture (amd64 or i386 now),
because of lack of time.
I do not support older distributions, because of lack of time.
and I guess, that using launchpad would solve the problems.
for jaunty I used gdal from qgis-lounchpad repository.
please, if you want me to join ubuntugis team, send me little howto,
where I can step-by-step follow, how I cand prepare, build (for more
then one architecture, for more then one ubuntu version), test
gis packages I'm providing in launchpad. It will help me to make the
work for more people and it will save my time, before I start to search
(and try) some manually. It might be sounding lazy, but packaging gis
packages is not my hobby or my job. I do it just as side-effect. If you
want me to participate, I need your hand, to guide me. If it is too
complicated or demanding for you, I'll continue on les-ej.cz/ubuntu as
long as needed.
thanks
Jachym
