 It is unclear to me why http://www.osgeo.org/events should be cleaned up
 and un-deprecated. It is a left over of the old manual events calendar.

 The rest of your suggestions seem to relate to Marketting Committee
 related events management.  The web site events calendar often includes
 events at which OSGeo does not really have formal "Marketting Committee"
 style attendance but which relate to OSGeo in some useful fashion and that
 we want to let people know about.  So there aren't necessarily "event
 management" type wiki pages for all events in the web site events
 calendar. (IMHO this is a good thing)
