[GeoNode-users] Map options - view vrs edit

Not sure I fully understand your question or needs, however initially the
idea was to have to buttons:

"View" - for any user, allows them to access the map for the visualization
only, the editors in edit mode too
"Edit" - visible only to editors, allows them to access the map in edit
mode (quite the same as clicking on the "View")

Those behaviors can be changed by either:
 - Modify the templates on django-mapstore-client library
 - Override or write your own Hookset to change the behavior
