'Gandhi', the father of Indian indipense and the soul of non-violent revolution through out the world, wanted a strong rural india. TO DAY IS HIS BIRTH ANNIVERSARY..

GRASS GIS shall make rural India (and else where, in the developing world) take advantage of GIS for planning. Crops crop patterns, monsoon tracking using GIS must benifit the rural farmer, making precision farming a reality even in the third world countries.

Cost of computers in INDIA have come within the reach of common man.. Now GRASS GIS will prove that U need not pay the heaven to use state of the art GIS.

Pl help in installing GIS..
1. The LIVE STAR CD, (GRASS5.7& and QGIS) needs Mandrake .. and still has trouble loading on the hard disc as shown on its very optimistic web-page, But even a floppy cannot be used with it making the user a prisoner in the CD itself..

Iam now trying my best to get the Mandrake -3- cds to try install STAR CD in it. The Bankok seminar has helped with its very useful web-site.. And the nice cooperation from Thailand, Univ is keeping newbees like me optimistic.

2. PCQLINUX2004 is another safe LINUX bet for newbees like me.
But alas except the GRASS Vector module I have problems. Using and Installin Gdal, Nviz and SQL database. Pl help.

Ravi Kumar
