[Incubator] What is outreach

Hey Vicky:

Thanks for stepping up to the OSGeo Live PSC - congrats!

OSGeo Live is a perfectly normal project and totally able to go through
incubation.

What you are seeing on the website is "odd" - it is odd because the website
is grouping software together by category (like web mapping or desktop
software). The OSGeo Live project is not one of those things, instead it is
a advocacy tool - used by OSGeo as an organization to introduce people to
all that is great about open source .... so "out reach".

The categories on the website have nothing to do with incubation; and since
the website is being replaced we will have new categories shortly.

I cannot remember if OSGeo Live has applied for the incubation process; who
is your mentor? Normally a mentor joins your team as a guest to answer any
questions (like this one) that comes up. The reason we join your team is so
we can answer questions on your email list where all your committers can
see the discussion and understand what they are getting into as part of
OSGeo.


*aside: *Although I am not sure if OSGeo Live is in incubation - I would
really like it if you could apply to be a "Community Project" (you have to
open source, open to contributions and geospatial).
