[OpenLayers-Users] show/hide WFS layer without multiple WFS requests

hi all,
I just want to hide/show a wfs layer but I see that, even using
wfs.setVisibility(false/true) or 
applying a transparent style (and then wfs.redraw), each time the WFS
request is sent again.

It has its own logic... but maybe there is a way to avoid these requests
again and again?
