[OpenLayers-Users] Ability to tweak the back/forward/zoom in buttons

hi everyone,

am trying to put some javascript logic on the back, forward and zoom
in/out buttons on the top of my map. but am unable to find the right
place to put the code. the code which is generated is <div
class="olControlNavigationItemActive"/>. i want to put some onclick
functions, where should i put them.
