 I applied r11983 and r11990 to the debian package (not uploaded to
 unstable, quite yet, though).

 Debian has geos-3.3.3-1 in stable, testing, and unstable and on all
 architectures. The build log's configure output confirms this.

 I'm unclear on #2084: can this now be an issue related to endianness?
