 doesn't seem I can win here.  Native mode didn't seem to work. Will try
 that again.

 windows line breaks worked fine on my machine and on winnie but debbie
 complained.
 Changing line breaks to linux ones of mapping file  at r12823 calmed
 debbie down but made winnie unhappy.
