 I feel like your fix is not necessarily right, but neither is it
 necessarily correct. I see at least two other failure modes in it. I'd be
 much helped by having the actual input data that cause the incorrect
 output arcs, so I can check my own approaches to the fix rather than
 blindly applying something.
