 I've just tested the test you attached (thanks!) and it gives me a
 slightly different (and funny) error:

 ERROR:  Corrupted topology: adjacent edges 65 and 65 bind different face
 (52 and 45)

 In any case it's capable of reproducing the problem so great work there!
