 For what it's worth I just ran the original example (not Sandro's SQL) and
 it output what (at least visually) seem to be perfectly correct results
 (no crazy precision reduction) against GEOS 3.12. At a minimum, the mixed
 collection update in 3.12 at least allows processing to conclude.
