thanx everyone! :)

with regards to qgis, yeah, it was actually my first option. but i
found out that SPIT didn't create GiST indexes, therefore i created
this tool to serve my purpose for the meantime. anyway i did request
this to the folks at QGIS and Mr. Gary said it'll be available on the
next release. :)
