I am on Windows, so if you could update it that would be great.

Sorry another quick question.

Do I need to update the .ts file for Norwegian? Or has that been done already now there is a string freeze?

I only ask as the ts file for Norwegian has different things in it to some of the other ones, and I read on the page below that I should update the file.

Hi James

I don't really have a good place for you to start, unfortunately. The project contains about 10.000 string, so it's not exactly done in day. The best would probably be, if you can locate some modules in the translation tool (Qt Linguist), which you already know and use, translate them and send them to Werner gradually, so you can check it out in the "nigthlies" build every time to verify them. That's how I've done. At least you get an idea of which terminologi, you want to use, for all the various terms, which are repeated all over the program.
Based on experience, you would be better off, if you get somebody to assist you, maybe a team of 4 people who all knows QGIS well enough. The task for one person is quite heavy and will require a lot of work, and you will probably not make it until QGIS 2.0 ships. You just need to agree on the terminology for consistency's sake.

Thanks Jacob.

Do you have any tips on where is the best place to start with the translation?

Werner:

I think if I work with what is there now, and when I send you the file you can rename it. I shall avoid pull requests and that kind of thing for now.

The file would be named qgis_no_NB.ts yes.

Credits to you, if you take this task (speaking of experience). Please, go ahead and see, if you can use my Danish translation, depending on how strong your Danish is (My Norwegian is not). Also, let me know, if you have any comments to it.

Hi!

Yeah .. the address is correct ..

Regarding the two language codes .. well .. you should know better than me ..
If you want I can create the file for you .. which will be the
qgis_no_NB.ts file if i understood you correctly

But you can also start with the existing one and i am going to rename
it once you sent it to me for committing it ..

Or are you going to make pull request .. that way I would rename it
first before you start .. would be much easier for you than

thanks a lot again for taking this task

kind regards
Werner
