[Qgis-user] Building models in QGIS

Hi Tyler,

Not so sure about textures - so they display, but upside down? Perhaps
it is an issue with vertex ordering (clockwise vs. anti-clockwise). I
had building models (3D Multipolygons) where the models were rendered
inside out. According to Martin Dobias, this is an issue with vertex
ordering, and I do hope that when QGIS 3 is shipped, that there will be
an option to set the vertex ordering with a checkbox or radiobutton.

As to the 3D raster DEM: this definitely works. In the 3D view you have
to press the "Configure" button in the top-left of the 3D window - the
button with the screw-wrench. In the dialog that opened you can choose
the raster layer with the DEM.

Depending on the size of the DEM, the triangulation of the raster DEM
may take a few seconds.

Hope this helps and greetings,

Andreas

I used a number of methods in COLLADA; no texture, texture, photo texture, edges, 2 sided edges, etc.. they all seem to work. The only thing I will note is that the Photo Textures are upside down on the faces.

So I've made a point on the desired building, attached the model and a proper scaling. I've had some luck with it but think it will be hard to to for more than a few buildings at a time. Would be nice to hear if you make progress in either way.

I only did a basic install using the downloadable installer; is there other dependencies I should install or is it only for viewing rasters and DEM's in 3D?
